7 reviews of Abbazia Di Sant'Antimo

A very Tuscan site

On my route I saw charming places in Tuscany. Here is one marvel that is at the foot of Buonconvento - Sant'Antimo Abbey, which dates back to the VIII century and whose construction was ordered by Charlemagne as a grace which was granted. The present building is Romanesque and dates from the XII and XIII centuries having undergone renovations and preservation of important parts (porch and apse). The site is very Tuscan and is where Roman San Antimo of Arezzo was martyred. It's in the middle of an olive grove and the cypress trees beside the bell tower seem to compete in a height contest. On a hill you can see Buonconvento whose name is related to this abbey.
