The tower seen from the inside

Called Agbar because it belongs to the Aiguas of Barcelona, this tower revolutionized the city's skyline when it was built a few years ago.

I had the opportunity to go inside, but the interior visit is usually only for shareholders and friends of employees. It is located in Plaza de les Glories Catalanes, Glories subway station, but you have to move away a little in order to better see the towering structure. It was designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel, and as they explained to us, represents the entire flow of water, since it shoots up like a geyser, red and boiling, until it arrives to the glaciers and freezes, going through the liquid state and blue color.

The tower has a very intelligent construction, to use the maximum space but also minimize energy consumption. For example, if you call the lift, you are asked to which floor you want to go and the lift coming will not be the closest one but the one taking people to the same floor or the one with less stops. The heating system has detectors to know where there are people and heating or air conditioning works only in those areas.

It is built on water and, since it is so close to the sea, the water poured out when the started to dig. The top of the building is empty and is hired for companies parties. It has an incredible view of the city. At night, it is illuminated with different colors and on special days like new year's eve it is beautiful to see how it changes colors like fireworks.

A symbol of modern barcelona

The famous Agbar tower -one of the symbols of modern Barcelona- was built in 2005 following the design of the architect Jean Nouvel. It is situated at the gates of the new technological distric of the city, between Diagonal avenue and Badajoz street. According to the creator, the building was inspired in the architectural legacy of the great Gaudí and the landscape of Montserrat. The skyscrapers has 3 oval cylinders and is 145 meters high, which makes it the third highest building of Barcelona, after the Arts Hotel and the Mapfre tower.

Inspired in gaudí

I thought the apartment building of the Agbar tower was really surprising. From what I could find out, the French architect and designer Jean Nouvel built very much inspired in Gaudí's architecture, something that didn't surprise me at all because everything in Barcelona has his mark on it.

Visit to the tower

As a collaborator in the Agbar group I had the opportunity to have a guided visit and it is really spectacular. Even more than the exterior the technology, home automation, the intelligent lifts to the impressive dome from where you see all Barcelona! If you have the opportunity it is worth seeing!

The torre agbar is one of those monum...

The Torre Agbar is one of those monuments breathtaking. It could be in Manhattan, yet it is here, in Spain, in the city of Barcelona! The tower stands out immediately and change the urban landscape, as no other skyscrapers are located near, she rushed towards the sky without anything to interfere. Designed by a French architect who is none other than the talented Jean Nouvel, the tower was opened in 2005, built of reinforced concrete, completely covered with a glass facade, creating more than 4,400 windows. Located on Diagonal Avenue, near the Plaza de les Glories Catalanes, the building houses the headquarters of the group Aguas de Barcelona (the Barcelona Water Company). On its proportions, the Agbar tower is 145 meters high and has 38 floors, including four in the basement. It is of course necessary to see it light up when it got dark, it's very impressive! The building looks like a huge shell that Barcelona nicknamed "Supositorio" (suppository), what a pretty name!

The torre agbar (catalan and spanish)...

The Torre Agbar (Catalan and Spanish) is a skyscraper in Barcelona designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel. Inaugurated in 2005, it now houses offices on Diagonal Street. One of the locals warmly called "suppository" (Catalan humor probably ...) looks like a giant missile-reinforced concrete covered with 4,000 LEDs that allow the creation of images on its exterior. Take some distance to appreciate the grandeur of the building, the ideal being to climb the heights of the city.

You can not miss the Torre Agbar by Jean Nouvel when we walk to the Poblenou neighborhood. It is seen from afar, this high tower was completed in 2005. She recalled the London cucumber, aka Swiss Re tower Norman Foster. The Barcelona is ironically nicknamed "El Falo", which means the phallus by the inhabitants. It is the seat of the water company in the city and one of the most daring of the latter constructions. Frankly blah day, it lights up at night in red and blue and then becomes much more attractive.

Agbar tower

With its giant suppository form, the Agbar tower is one of the most modern buildings of Barcelona. This is due to the French architect Jean Nouvel. In our case, it was useful to us to lead us to Encants flea located at its foot. For the rest, it is worth seeing if you're a fan of unusual architecture.
