Altar of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Notre - Dame

2 reviews of Altar of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Notre - Dame

Most visited

Notre Dame Cathedral is undoubtedly one of the most visited temples in France and worldwide. This beautiful Gothic style temple (reminiscent of Romance) was built 1163-1245, is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is in the "Little Isla de la Cite in Paris". Inside the temple, on the left aisle, is an altar dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe, patroness of Mexico. The altar has a very beautiful image of the Virgin, a copy of the original image is in the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City, the Mexican flag, some religious banners and some other Mexican items. At the bottom of the picture you can see a small figure of Juan Diego, the protagonist of the apparitions, and there are a bunch of roses characteristic of the offering that led him to the Virgin during the apparitions.
