Pleasant, dynamic, welcoming

I expected Newcastle to be a gray city, a bit nice and a bit sad, with the industry of northern England - but it was the opposite. It's pleasant, dynamic, welcoming, very nice and built around the River Tyne, on the east coast of England. At the architectural level it has some beautiful buildings, especially the bridges built over the river, they are wonderful. It's close to Hadrian's Wall, the wall that ran across England to mark the boundary of the Roman Empire and is now a ruin perfect for walking. At night, the city is very lively, especially along the river where there are plenty of bars and the lights are great.

An Afternoon in Newcastle

On our tour of Great Britain we spent an afternoon around Newcastle. Known by his football team, we found it to be a charming town. We would have liked more time to tour around the city, though. However, we found some places worthy of sharing. Homes had an unusual architecture. I recommend The Sage Gatehead.
