Asahiyama Zoo

In Asahikawa in Hokkaido is one of Japan's most famous zoos. The Japanese visiting this place never fail to go to the zoo. I actually went with a small Japanese package tour but from what I've seen on their website it can be reached by bus both from Asahikawa Station and from the airport. Take the number 78 for 500 yen. It runs every hour (the airport is 35 minutes away). From the station, take the bus stop number 5, it costs 400 yen and runs every hour. The main attractions of this zoo were the penguins, seals and especially the two white bears, which are really amazing, especially seeing them swimming and diving into the water.
