Berzocana Triangulation Station

2 reviews of Berzocana Triangulation Station

1000 meters high

One of the over 11,000 trig points in Spain is found in the Villuercas – Ibores – Jara GeoPark and it’s called “Berzocana” after a nearby village. It’s located over 1,000 meters high and you have an excellent view of the valley at the foot of the peak as well as numerous volcanic peaks in the Cáceres province. It’s impossible to arrive by car, but it makes for a very pleasant hike. The route is perfect for hikers of all levels and abilities and you’ll definitely feel like king of the world once you reach the top.

Amazing views of the GeoPark

With only some good boots, a little bit of water, some energy bars, and good company, we trekked to the Berzocana Trig Point. We were guided by "Geoturismo en Las Villuercas" and they showed us all kinds of rocks, flora, fauna, and over 40 different kinds of lichens. Above all, we got to take in some absolutely jaw-dropping views of the Villuercas - Ibores - Jara GeoPark. If you're in the area, this route is totally worth it.
