Birmingham City

Birmingham played a important role in the Industrial Revolution in the UK (known in Victorian times as "the workshop of the world"). It earned a reputation as an industrial city, with many red brick buildings. It is one of the most popular destinations in England. Today it is the third largest city in the UK after London and Manchester, bigger than Sheffield, Leeds and Edinburgh. It was the birthplace, in the late 70's and early 80's of Heavy Metal in Britain. But that's part of the past and the present reality is that it is a charming city, where new styles merge with existing designs, adapting what already existed to new needs, as has been the case with their canals or Chinatown.
