Caneta Neighborhood

We went to this neighbourhood to experience one of the block parties organised by the Association of Coastal Caneta Port, complete with a meal of sardines. The neighbourhood has a cute little port, the other side of the River Bidasoa from Spain. We had a great time in a wonderful setting, meeting very nice people. There were plenty of Spanish people there; they cross the few hundred metres to the other side of the border to come and enjoy themselves. We stopped to visit the remains of the Vauban fortress and to see the house of Pierre Loti, which unfortunately cannot be entered.
