Casa rafa restaurant

This restaurant has three great things: the absence of a menu, the quality of the ingredients and the speed of service. The first surprise when you sit at the table is that the owner does not give you a menu, but tells you the possible courses ie: "good clams", "good octopus", ... and really everything is very, very good. The intangibility of the menu may cause some uncertainty as to what the price will be, but it cost us around 30 € per person with dessert and wine. We ordered the clams and octopus for starters. The clams came in a generous portion served with mussels and cockles, steamed whole and delicious. The Galician octopus is also highly recommended. For the main course, we had lamb chops and oxtail stew, which we liked a lot, garnished with homemade chips. The desserts were cheesecake with berries and flan, both homemade and delicious. The wine was a Bierzo Mencia. It was a Saturday and the dining room was full, so booking is advisable. A special mention should go to the waiters, ve were excellent. I would go back, we have been wanting to try their potatoes, shrimp with bacon and fish. The value for money is very very good.

This restaurant is located in the cit...

This restaurant is located in the city center, very close to Plaza de la Inmaculada. It has two entrances, one from Calle Ramiro Valbuena and the other from a side street from the Avenida Padre Isla. This is due to the expansion work of the place: the old part is on the side of C / Ramiro Valbuena, where there is a tapas bar and a small dining room decorated in a rustic style. The new part is located in a newly constructed building at Av Padre Isla, where they created a large dining room, plus several other smaller for more intimate dinners. The basement has a wine cellar, ideal for group dinners. Due to its location, Casa Rafa is very busy every day from business people, also because it accepts food stamps. It is always busy so book. It offers traditional cuisine and especially housewife. It has no menu, but are always present its classic dishes, which vary depending on the products purchased every day. The quality is thus guaranteed. As usual dish and recommendable there are potatoes "a la importancia", some soup, shrimp casserole with fried bacon, octopus, clams ... Usually you ask for something to be shared, and then a second. Even the desserts are homemade and the wine list is extensive. Smoking allowed. The service is quick and very courteous, especially very familire, since it's done by the same owners of the premises. Not a restaurant of the cheapest (about 30 euro per person), but the food beautifully, with generous portions and quality first.
