Important building in Irish history

If you're walking along O'Connell Street in Dublin, you'll come across the magnificent Central Post Office, an important building in the history of Dublin. For example. it was one of the main targets of the Irish nationalists during the Easter Rebellion of 1916. Although the uprising failed, the subsequent British reprisals, including the execution of fifteen Irish nationalists, made Sinn Fein one of the dominant political forces in Ireland. The Central Post Office was the last of the great Georgian public buildings to be built in the capital. Construction was started in 1814 and was finally completed three years later.
