Cercedilla Train Station

This might be the most iconic train station in the Community of Madrid. It was inaugurated in 1888 as part of the new railway line linking Segovia to Villalba. You can still see the old houses that were built on the road connecting the station and the city centre, since there were many locals who discovered this part of the mountain thanks to the train. But the most important, and it's greatest moment, was the inauguration, on July 12, 1923 in the presence of King Alfonso XIII and Victoria Eugenia, of the narrow gauge electric railway that linked Cercedilla with Navacerrada. Since this event, there was an explosion of hikers and skiers, especially on the weekends.
