Take you for a CIA or KGB (depending on your political orientation) by going to Checkpoint Charlie, the main forum for the exchange of prisoners during the Cold War. Imagine that the war is still fresh in the collective consciousness and the world is divided into two superpower have born a precarious balance. This in mind you can feel the tense atmosphere of the place knowing it was there not so long ago, one of the few places where American and Russian soldiers could look straight in the eye with the only constraint that limited the burr, a white line on the ground. As usual the city has preserved the atmosphere keeping the place intact and animating with true-to-life guards.

The checkpoint charlie was one of sev...

The Checkpoint Charlie was one of several points to cross from one side to another at the time of the Berlin wall. You can still see the floor through which passed the wall. Next, there are plenty of tourist shops. In fact, the control booth you see and not the original, the muni and removed it but it was rebuilt as a tourist attraction. There are two large portraits of soldiers, an American who looks to the East and a Russian looking westward. Other than that not much else, people take pictures with fake military and you can also seal a false passport. Next, there are several walls full of interesting explanations about the history of the wall and military alliances in Berlin. And the wall of the museum is also worth a visit.

In the midst of the city of berlin is...

In the midst of the city of Berlin is one of the most famous border crossing. Separated the Soviet side of the U.S. during the war. Today it is a tourist attraction that recreates one of the houses of the old border with photographs of a Soviet soldier and an American who welcome each side of the pass. Around it are numerous shops and souvenir stalls and you can even get a stamp like that when some military put across. The photos of what the world was trying to recreate what life was like then.

Checkpoint charlie is a former checkp...

Checkpoint Charlie is a former checkpoint between East Berlin and West Berlin at the time when the Wall divided the city. He was the choke point for travelers wishing to visit East Berlin. It is now possible to get to this place, where images and exhibitions on the wall are held regularly. Besides this checkpoint is the Wall Museum (Mauermuseum) which sets of documents attesting to the success or failure of attempts to escape illegal. This part of town is an extremely important asset to preserve the memory of the Wall.

Checkpoint charlie

April 2012: The "Checkpoint Charlie" located in Friedrichstrasse, close to Potsdamer Platz, was erected by the Allies after the construction of the Berlin Wall and was one of the most critical points of passage between East and West. In the middle of the road there is a large sign on one side a portrait of a Russian soldier and the other an American soldier.

It's crazy.

Obviously, if you go to Berlin, you will pass through Checkpoint Charlie, but of course I do not like anything. It's horribly crowded with tourists, there is a horrible mess, and there are too many. It is a tourist attraction to the utmost, to approaching buses to take pictures and make a bit of fuss. I was one minute and ran out of there, when I saw the people who had. And of course, you sell everything. From the passport stamped like you've gone through the checkpoint to the photo. To take a picture because there are some guys dressed paste sacándole anyone who dares to photograph there, also the checkpoint is not original. You'll see it, because you've heard of him and such, but I did not indispensable, not at all.

Checkpoint charlie was one of the che...

Checkpoint Charlie was one of the checkpoints to cross the Berlin Wall era. You can still see on the ground the exact route of the wall. Around, full of tourist shops. Even the checkpoint was rebuilt for tourists. It was destroyed by the mayor in the fall of the wall, but it was relocated by a private company it seems. There are two large portraits of soldiers, an American looking to the east and a Russian looking westward. Apart from that, there is not much else, people are taking pictures with fake military, or put a rubber stamp on a false passport. There are explanations in the exciting history of the street wall and military alliances in Berlin. The Wall Museum is also worth a visit. There is a metro stop for Check Point Charlie and the bus also announced, which we can see it was the influx of people coming down.
