Chester

Actually we were here for a day and a half but I recommend this city to anyone who comes to England on holiday, or to those who live in larger cities and have not visited any small surrounding towns. From my point of view, it deserves much more attention than Chester, Liverpool or Manchester. It's much friendlier, has cozy streets and many silly shops. All the facilities, restaurants, banks and pharmacies have their charm, since they're embedded in typical houses there. Recommended 100% for a weekend visit. Also it has to be great in the summer, with all of the green space to sit.

For me the best part was the large cathedral with stained glass. Inside you can eat at the bar with music and buy things at the store. When I went it was free, only a voluntary donation. It has the famous Eastgate clock, you can ride on a tour bus and more ...
