Church of san francisco and hospital of the holy trinity

Facing the Plaza de San Francisco is the church of the same name, which is annexed to the Hospital of the Holy Trinity, now converted into a nursing home. The building was created in the 19th century on the ruins of the old convent of San Lorenzo (also known as the Escorial de Canarias) which was destroyed by a fire. Salvaged parts after the fire were used in its construction, such as the baroque stonework of the church, the staircase and courtyard galleries. Through the archway that leads into the hospital, there is a good viewpoint from which there are picturesque views of the Orotava Valley which are definitely worth seeing.

San francisco, la orotava

This place has special memories for me. I was over my school and in the later years tended to hang out there at that time who consider ourselves "old" to differentiate children in lower grades. It was always a very quiet, especially the Hospital, which is what we do with the large arches. In principle, the building was part of the convent attached to the church of San Francisco, but the government of the early nineteenth century forced the Church to use some of their facilities to charity. Facing the square and also above, we see two water mills belonging to the current path of the Villa Mills. Indeed, the best gofio island in the mill is found in the upper part of the square. I recommend wheat-millet mixture (maize)
