36 reviews of Cofete Beach

A Preserved and Remote Place

Cofete is a remote beach in the southern point of the island of Fuerteventura. We arrived there in our car, from Morro Jable, and the 20 kilometers that separated us from Cofete took us about one hour and a half, stopping to observe the impressive landscape, but also because there is no paved road and you have to be careful while driving.

Some operating tours from Morro Jable offer excursions to Cofete in minivans, which are more apt for these kinds of roads, but having our own car allowed us to stay the night in Cofete, on the beach, that measures 10 kilometers and allows few visitors at the same time.

Incredible

I recommend this place 100 % to those of you who enjoy big, virgin and desert beaches; if you add to this a lunar landscape along cool and fun people, you get a perfect day at the beach.

It took us a few hours to get there since we were coming from the northern part of the island, from Lajares. We were traveling in rented cars, and the heaviness of the trip went away when we reached the viewpoint. The views are spectacular; the landscape is wild and rugged, except for a few buildings. We made a first stop in a parking place in order to stretch our legs and enjoy the waves.

Afterwards we arrived to a more virgin area, solitary and spectacular. The road that took us to the beach looked like an old science fiction movie: winding, eroded by the wind, water and sand, almost impassable and of an incredible beauty.
