A food competition
El Concurso Provincial de Pinchos (a local skewer competition) is Valladolid´s most important gastronomical competition. It is organized by the Provincial Association of Hospitality, in the 2nd week of June, and is coming up to its twelfth edition. The 2009 winning entry by restaurant The Abbey Zagales was called "Obama in the White House," being among previous winners like La Criolla or La Mina restaurant. The 2010, there were 274 skewers entries, for a modest fee of € 1.50 per skewer, with a choice of hot, cold and local skewers with some of the winning entries later available on the local tapas
