Palace converted into schools and currently a museum

The Episcopal Palace was constructed as the residence of the Bishop of Guarda Don Nuno Noronha late 16th century (1596-1598), as shown in an inscription at the entrance to the courtyard. There is also a door leading to the garden from the year 1786. The roof is pitched, access to the cloister is via a staircase and porch rested sections is supported by 7 Ionic columns. In the middle of the yard is a big cistern. In the 18th century the then Bishop Don Juan Mendoza, made many changes to the structure. It was the seat of the Bishopric of Castelo Branco from the years 1771-1831, when he moved public schools into the structure.
