Artistic Neighbourhood
The district of Friedrichshain is an old neighbourhood in the former East Berlin. Nowadays it is a slightly alternative neighbourhood and is the home to artists and intellectuals of the city. There are plenty of coffee shops which serve a brunch most of Sunday, at a small price. The young people get together with friends on a terrace, and they hang out from 11am to 4 pm, eating and chatting with friends. The neighbourhood is organised around the Boxhagener Platz, a quiet square with a park in the centre, which hosts a flea market at the weekend. The fashion street is Simon-Dach-Strasse and it has a lot of small restaurants and bars, most with nice terraces.
