Furnas Lake

The traditional meal of Furnas is cooked directly on the ground, at a place opposite the side of the lake where the chapel of Our Lady of Victories is located. This is where the "kitchens" can be found; holes in the ground where big burly men put huge pots into ,tied with ropes, that stay there for several hours until the food is ready. The place smells of sulfur and there are several pools where the water is like bubbling and boiling mud. From here, we can take a 3km trail that allows us to reach the other side of the lake
