Region's famous oysters

Galway City is know for its leisure offerings, and its pubs and cafes are very popular in Ireland. Students make up a quarter of the total population and you can see remains of the medieval walls between the shops selling Aran sweaters, handmade rings, and books. The bridges form arches over rivers full of salmon, and a long walk down to the town of Salthill in Galway Bay lets you see the source of the region's famous oysters. Thoroughly recommended.

I was in south Ireland, the city of Cork to be specific, last year to study English. I wanted to see more of this island, so we rented a car (very economical for five people) and headed to Galway and met some wonderful people. We took this photo in one of Galway's small ports. It's one of the nicest places I've ever seen and I'd like to return some day. When you visit Ireland, don't just stay in the cities, try to visit every town and valley you can because each one has a beautiful story to tell. Thoroughly recommended.

Coloured houses surrounded by pubs

Galway is a very old and traditional town with coloured houses surrounded by pubs. You can enjoy the nightlife or find a quiet corner on the port, where short sunny moments are maximized by the locals.

Galway it’s a really beautiful fishing city

Excellent

I spent only one afternoon there but I think it was worth the visit, the vibe there is amazing and the main street is filled with cute restaurants and street performers, I loved it!

Lovely, alive, almost magic.

Excellent

Galway can make you feel the real irish style, with its street musicians, its pubs, its colours and the sea sight...

Avoid Saturday night unless you want to party.
