Gil Eannes Square

Gil Eannes Square is the most central and important part of Lagos as most of the pedestrian and shopping streets of the city converge here (it's very lively and busy). Also in this square is the Town Hall (within which is the tourist information office) and a representative statue of King Sebastião. The square is named after Gil Eannes, an important fifteenth century navigator, the first who managed to get to the African Cabo Bojador.
