Health Centres

The island of Utila in the Caribbean is a place of worship for divers. However, there's a pretty large gap here as far as health issues are concerned. Throughout this island found only one public health center (which is not the same as the ones in Honduras that I would actually recommend) and a private consultation with the popular "Dr. Jones". The private school lacks the minimum hygiene (the nurse and the doctor go barefoot in the office, smoke constantly and bring their pets) and it is not at all cheap. It is doubtful, even that said "Dr. Jones" is really doctor. After the above, I strongly recommend getting a checkup in Tegucigalpa and La Ceiba before coming to the island and see if it is in a proper state of health for diving.
