Florianópolis Old Town

4 reviews of Florianópolis Old Town

A divided city

The title is not because of any problems between the people of the city, but purely geographic: the city is partly on the mainland, and partly on the island of Santa Catarina, connected by two bridges. This modern city has ten kilometres of marina and a number of apartment blocks. The historic centre is on the island, and I liked it a lot: it has several colonial and baroque churches, and places like the central market, with restaurants and cafes. I recommend visiting the centre at night, when it is lit up. Santa Catarina is famous for its quality and quantity of beaches; there are more than 100.
