House of the Marquise of Carthage

La Casa de la Marquesa de Cartago is one of the most beautiful palaces in the historic district of Ciudad Rodrigo. It is located in the Plaza de San Salvador, next to the Palacio Episcopal, and has now been converted into a theater. The palace was built by Eagle Conception Narvaez (I Marquesa de Carthage) in the late nineteenth century, but he died before he completed it, so in the 1953, the news owners finished it. The building is beautiful and very elegant, neo-classical, and attention is called to the large corner balcony (as a gate) as well as the intricate decoration of the windows which is done in a manner to representant the lineage (the lily and eagle) .
