Much more than just a cave

This place will leave you with your mouth open, and even more if you knew that before it used to be a dump, and then César Manrique said that he would transform it into the most visited place in Lanzarote. Some said he was crazy, but there it is, with its famous auditorium, thanks to the acoustic of the place and where international artists have performed. There is also the endemic specie of the albino crab, which looks like hundreds of white dots in the small lagoon.

The

It is one of the most touristic and impressive places in the island of Lanzarote. The influence of César Manrique in this place is remarkable; the place shares its artificial oasis with natural caves within a peculiar environment.

For me, the most impressive thing was to discover that in this place lives a species that doesn’t exist in any other place of the planet. They are tiny blind crabs, named “albinos” because of their white color. At the beginning it is difficult to know what the tiny white spots in the cave are and, in fact, they are small animals that live there.

Jameos del Agua is a place created by various eruptions of the Corona Volcano, creating these tunnels that have been habilitated for the tourist.

In the interior you have to take the stairs that lead you the bar, and in the entrance you will find the impressive cave. When you cross it, you go up the stairs into an artificial oasis. Afterwards, you will find the auditorium located in another immense cave and, finally, an area with a cafeteria and shops.

No doubt, the place deserves a visit; the influence of man has been a respectful one and they have known how to combine the natural with the artificial.

Manrique

It is the work of César Manrique, to whom we thank, since this place is always full of visitors. It is a place where he expressed a great imagination, taking advantage of the nature of the surroundings.

From the entrance you can already see and feel that it is a special place, you can see the albino crabs, listen to the birds’ songs and enjoy the auditorium; its pool, place of hundreds of articles and where the tourist takes pictures, and by night it is even more mystical and charming.

One of the most renowned works of man...

One of the most renowned works of Manrique in Lanzarote is undoubtedly the Jameos. The site is the sea of curious. Leveraging own peculiar geography that caused the water with its volcanic soil erosion, Manrique designed a different site that you think is not easy to describe. Have place for performances, a fantastic restaurant for dinner somewhere quiet, a lovely pool, a museum volcanic ... In short, a bit of everything. A very pretty surely always remember you when you visit.

Jameos del agua is a very special pla...

Jameos del Agua is a very special place, generated half the power of nature, and half the inventiveness of man: It is a large area of underground caves, originated between 3000 and 4500 years ago by the solidification of a lava flow , who created this "hole" underground (Jameos means "empty") then the idea of the artist Cesar Manrique transformed into a cultural center. We are placed in fact, an auditorium, the museum Casa de Los Volcanes, which illustrates the history of the volcanic Canary Islands, and an open space with gardens that meander around a spa-pool with white palm, one of the most photographed images of ' island. The entrance has a cost between 8 and 9 euro for adults, depending on whether you visit during the day or evening, when the restaurant opens and the cave and the lake are lit in a very suggestive.

A new form after the volcanic eruption

One of the great things about this place - a cross between a cave, a garden and an architectural structure with bars and auditorium - is its lighting. The way in which light passes through the spaces, starting from the openings in the ground (the "Jameos"), and illuminates them gives to the whole atmosphere spectacular. As the visitor continues in the path are faced with situations and scenarios very different. César Manrique has created this creation from long (6 km) tunnel formed by the volcanic eruption that hit the island in the past. It 's the first creation of Manrique and was opened to 1966.

A place to try

The Jameos is many things at once. Party room, auditorium, restaurant, and a magnificent and beautiful natural area. Hard to believe that a building of this caliber at the same time is so friendly around him and let it enjoy it without interfering. You can dine, have a drink, and attend events in its auditorium. It is a very complete site. As cursiosidad, the lagoon is a type of crab that is endemic albino and blind.

Lanzarote is something unique and spe...

Lanzarote is something unique and special, in part because of its great history of erupting volcanoes and also for the great work he left there the architect César Manrique, a genius who knew how to respect nature and make it even more beautiful if possible. We went in without preparing the plan adventure travel time and it worked out really well because we saw it all, yes, some days were a little stressful because Lanzarote has much to do and most of the sites no longer closes later than about 7. One of the sites, the many striking, must-see in Lanzarote are Jameos water. Admission cost us 8 euros. We agreed to a stone staircase leading down to really beautiful cave. Big and tall plants had bright green contrasting with the darkness of the room, and a very nice wooden rails, we did a lot of photos at the entrance of the cave because they leave precious. The cave itself is a spectacle, as it has a lake and being small (not much travel) gives the reflected light and give a very cool effect in the water. Inside the blind crabs live lake, which is named for this feature precisely, they see nothing and are white. They say they are considered unique and only found in the Jameos, elsewhere in the world. If you look out to the water are clearly visible as it brings out the color white. The cave can be traversed by a path made for tourists, as I said the tour is very short and ends when you go to the other end. At the other end there are also some very nice photos as there are large rocks and people put there to pose ... Very pretty. It is a harmonious and complete relaxation.

Impressive as all lanzarote

By the famous artist Cesar Manrique, located in the middle of a volcanic tunnel near the coast. Represents the harmony between nature and artistic creation. The truth that is impressive down the stairs, see the cave and lagoon in it full of that species as rare and unique blind crabs, white and barely an inch, it's amazing.
