I would say that Geneva is one of the few cities that you can visit on foot without public transport, especially if you have several days to spare. From the Parc de la Perle du Lac you can walk to the Botanical Gardens, following the street or an underground path. The Botanical Garden opened in 1817, but was moved to its present site in 1904. It has several hectares of plants, trees, flowers ... and from what I've read, it houses a collection of 16,000 plant species from around the world, divided into sections.
