Kanteibyo (Kuan Ti Miao Temple)

1 review of Kanteibyo (Kuan Ti Miao Temple)

unlike anything you can find in Japan

The Kantei-byo is the most famous temple to be found in Chinatown, Yokohama and it is one of its hallmarks. It is located in the heart of Chinatown and it is very spectacular, especially because of the color. The Kantei-byo is dedicated to Kanwu which, it couldn´t be any other way, is God's business. Although admission to Kantei-byo is free, they charge you the price of an incense stick if you want to approach the altar and pray. What I liked about this temple is its ornamentation, especially the dragons protruding from its roof. Moreover, it is unlike anything you can find in Japan, as there are very few temples of Confucian style.
