Karangahake Gorge

The Karangahake Gorge is on the national 2 between Paeroa and Waihi. In 1875, New Zealand's Gold Rush was there. Nowadays it has become a park that explains the history of gold mining with information panels located on the walk by the river in the Karangahake gorge Ohinemuri, with several suspension bridges and original preserved tools and machines.
