Fantastic views
About 15 minutes by car from Atlanta Downtown, between Marietta and Kennessaw, is what locals call the "Kenessaw Mountain Park": a mountain in which many battles of the American Civil War took place. Nowadays it's a recreation site, popular with the locals, with a well-marked walking route of approximately 1300 m. As you hike you'll see plaques pointing out the sites of the different battles. At the top is a great viewpoint with fantastic 360 degree views over the city. The park entrance is free, and there is plenty of parking near the different starting points, which can make your hike easier or more difficult as you choose.
