Kilt Rock

These cliffs are found in the northern part of the Scottish island of Skye. Supposedly the name Kilt Rock comes from the fact that its walls are filled with all the colours of a kilt. To reach the area, we left from Portree north and took the road around the island. After passing the Old Man of Storr monolith by 25 kilometres, you reach the point where you park your car. The views are magnificent from the gazebo. You can see the cliffs, the sea and especially the waterfall that flows into the sea, making it one of the most emblematic and beautiful places on the Isle of Skye. A plaque reminds us that fossilized dinosaur footprints were found in the area.

Located on the northeast tip of the island of Skye, Kilt Rock is a rock of hexagonal basalt columns, and named after the most famous Scottish garment. Most visitors come for the spectacular waterfall. Wander around the area and enjoy the views over the cliffs overlooking the sea! Breathtaking and windy!

Kilt Rock is actually almost at the northernmost point of the Isle of Skye. From the lookout you can enjoy a wonderful view of these cliffs. It is a landscape of wilderness including green mountains and lakes which are the language of the sea between the small islands. There´s a plaque with dinosaur prints on the gazebo that remind us that, not long ago, fossilized rocks with these prints were found in this area.
