La Hostería del Laurel Restaurant

On my last visit to Seville I ate at this restaurant, in the Santa Cruz neighbourhood, opposite the headquarters of the Venerable Palace Abengoa Focus Foundation.

It is located in the Plaza de los Venerables, which I found to be one of the most charming squares in the old town. It was filled with tables and umbrellas from the various restaurants and bars around its perimeter; it is a most enjoyable location.

La Hosteria del Laurel is a typical Andalusian cottage of three floors: on the ground floor is the bar and restaurant, and on the upper floors, as its name suggests, the hotel accommodation.

Highlights for me of this restaurant are the location and the service. We went on a Saturday for lunch and sat on the terrace, enjoying a sunny day with pleasant temperatures.

It is quiet location even though almost all tables in the square for the various restaurants were busy. There was no sensation of noise.

The service was prompt and very friendly, answering any questions and advising us when ordering.

My wife asked for a recommendation on the wine to accompany the meal and they suggested a full-bodied house wine with orange flavouring. "Duque de Carmona". It had a peculiar taste but we loved it.
