Spectacular

Who hasn't seen in any of the many newscasts in our life, a piece on the over night border closing ceremony between India and Pakistan. This memorable day was hot and humid, it was busy and I was very tired, but I could see was certainly spectacular. The pride and passion of both sides is reflected in each of their acts and movements, aggressive and very strong. Spurred by the shouts of the populace, the soldiers are full of energy and extra motivation. I was open-mouthed throughout the 2 hours of the performance. I ended up dehydrated, weak and exhausted, my blood had boiled all the time. Go up to Attari, either by bus or taxi (better if shared with someone to reduce cost) it is about 2 hours from Amritsar.

From McLeod Ganj volunteers organized...

From McLeod Ganj volunteers organized an escape to Amritsar to visit the famous temple. But, since the Pakistani border is just a few kilometers away they held a show demonstrating the majesty of the two nations. We were doubtful of the conflict at first but the idea was too interesting. Colors, shouting, flags, laughter and then, wonder no more, some soldiers appeared to have come from right out of a comedy theater. How strange is this world I'm in, I thought! It made me happy and I smiled.
