A Mississippi Valley Plantation

The "Laura Plantation" is actually the Duparc family home. Guillaume Duparc, a French Navy veteran who participated in the American Revolution, was given this valuable land as a reward for his services, and he turned it into a sugar plantation. In 1936, Laura Locoul Gore wrote the history of 100 years on a Louisiana sugar plantation, and it was renamed in her honor. She explored the daily lives of workers, both slaves and free men, over several generations. We can visit the main house, dating back to 1805, complete with Creole furniture.
