The dream of two great men.

Because in the beginning, this solemn place was built to honor the memory of the American president who fought for the rights of the most disadvantaged, but behold, a descendant of one of the defendants stole the limelight. The story is well known: Martin Luther King and his speech "I Have a Dream 'brought in August 1963, the monument reminiscent of the" Great Emancipator, "thousands of people clamoring for freedom and equal rights. It was a historic speech and therefore a turning point in the history of the United States. In addition, the scenario could not be more successful and more spectacular. Built in white stone with 36 columns representing each of the States of the Union at the time of Lincoln's death, has a statue of the president sitting in thought, staring into the distance, flanked by two cameras side with inscriptions of Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address. The statue is 19 meters high and weighs almost as much as 175 tons magnetism radiating and annually attracts about six million people. Is it because of the realism of the face of the statue, obtained with plaster casts of the president's face ?, Or maybe the symbolism surrounding the monument? Fifty-eight are the steps leading to the monument, two of them represent the mandates of Lincoln as president and the others his age at the time of his death. Some say, especially the tour guides each hand of the statue represents a letter in the language of the deaf, and would be A and L, first letters of his name and surname. Although the reality is that symbolize the ideals of Lincoln; open hand is peace, harmony and compassion, while the force is closed and the decision to change things. The two men had the courage and determination to change things, and therefore should be remembered forever.

The washington monument inevitable

Lincoln is par excellence the "president" of the United States. It is so transcendent work, his life and his legacy, which still today, nearly 200 years after still considered bad education make jokes about his death. The Lincoln Memorial is one that can not miss on your visit to Washington. Like everyone else, get to know is completely free, and I warn you not do more to climb stairs, see the statue, the prints on the walls with its laws and decrees, and now. But it is actually so impressive work done in this figure, and is part of our cinematogrficos many memories and cultural, it is impossible not to be affected by its presence. Apart from the top you have the perfect perspective to see the "pool" of this monument and remember how many films and series you've seen. Warning, this pool is really long. Do not expect to walk 100 m and think you've arrived at the statue of Lincoln. It's a really long distance, like all in the US, and to walk ah to Prxima still missing another leg. Cmod carries shoes.

A president who made his mark

The Lincoln Memorial is one of the monuments of Washington who first visited. It is a rectangular building with a grand staircase and a column, looking like nothing more to see of a Greek temple. Lincoln became president with 52 years representing the Republican Party and not without difficulties. One of the most revolutionary changes made was the beginning of the abolition of slavery, and man had to regentar civil war betw the north and south of the country. Inside the monument there are two inscriptions on each side inside the building, which are parts of two of his speeches and in the center a marble statue, with a length of 6x6 m in width and height, sitting in an armchair. I have summarized much of Lincoln history, and I recommend you give him a look, then it's worth. U.S. pleasantly remind this president and a way to have him with them is that a $ 5 bill, first his face and back of the ticket in the building we have occupied these last lines. I recommend a visit

The visit to the memorial to President Abraham Lincoln is required. This place is known for the concentrations that have taken place in it, especially one that took place in 1963 in favor of Human Rights in which Martin Luther King said: "I have a dream". It is a Greek inspired building with 36 columns. In the center is a large sculpture of Abraham Lincoln to 6 meters high.

Located at the western end of the famous National Mall, the Lincoln Memorial is undoubtedly one of the best known and most remarkable historic buildings in the city. We love the beautiful classical facade column, sweeping staircases, and the imposing statue of Abraham Lincoln (the president who started the War of Secession, and Civil War in the 1860s), and sitting in stone, remarkable. A cultural and historical tour not to be missed.

Impressive monument to the memory of lincoln

Impressive monument dedicated to the memory of one of the great American presidents. The sculpture is of colossal proportions and conveys a sense of serenity and wisdom that is reminiscent of the Greek gods, I guess that was the effect who wanted to cause in visitors who conceived this magnificent work.

This monument took place many important speeches such as the famous "I have a dream" by Martin Luther King. Located on the west side of the National Mall, we find ourselves with this imposing monument (which looks like a Greek temple) built in memory of former U.S. President Abraham Lincoln.
