Lola Tapes Platillos & Gins - Closed

Slowfood is a new trend in cooking and the truth is that it’s worth trying. If you’re in Tarragona, you really should stop by Lola; all the food (and oftentimes the wine) is produced organically and almost all the products are locally-sourced (with the exception of the pork, which is from Extremadura). They serve things like fried fish, cod, anchovies, grilled octopus with romesco sauce, cheese plates, sea urchin, fresh strawberry tiramisu and cheesecake. It’s a treat for the palate and is worth splurging on!

All the food here goes straight from the garden or fishing net right onto the plate. The cheeses are Catalan, the fish is from the local waters, and the wine is organic. All the products are top quality and they have service to match. It’s also located right in the center of Tarragona, by the Ayuntamiento.

This tapas bar is located in the plaza around the town hall. The tapas are exquisite and the wine list is very interesting (I had never tried organic wines before!). The best part was the small and cozy ambiance. Well, honestly the best part was the grilled octopus and the Catalan cheese plate! The owner is super friendly and explained all the plates and wines with a smile. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Tarragona.

We were lucky enough to eat at this tapas bar and the owner really took care of us. They specialize in seafood but also have meat dishes, something that those (like me) with shellfish allergies really appreciate.

It’s a good place to go with friends, it’s not noisy, and the food is great. The owner is a wine-buff and helped us select the best wines to go with our food. The result was simply spectacular.
