Beautiful views over this cosmopolitan city.

A Ponte Luiz I (Portuguese) is one of the six bridges which are most emblematic of the city of Porto and that crosses the borders of the city and Gaia where you can find the famous wine cellars of Porto. Its construction is based on a Belgian engineer project, the designer was a disciple of Eiffel, which explains its similarity to the Eiffel Tower. It has two floors, on the top line the Metro passes. There are walkways so you can enjoy the spectacular views of the Douro river with barges passing through the city. To access the Bridge D. Luis you can get there from the mall which has opened (rua Catarina), the funicular that goes right up to the bridge and enjoy the atmosphere of the resort and which offers beautiful views over this cosmopolitan city.

No doubt luis i bridge is the most ad...

No doubt Luis I Bridge is the most admired and typical of the Ribeira area, and an emblem of the city of Oporto. Dating from 1886, and was designed by Teófilo Seyrig, a disciple of Eiffel, who participated with him in the bridge design Maria Pia. So both are very similar, with an impressive iron metal structure, but differ in that of Louis I have two levels, an upper through which the tram, and a lower one for vehicles and pedestrians. It is a very busy bridge, also for tourists who cross the river to visit the town of Vila Nova de Gaia, located on the other side and is lined with wine cellars. I was very surprised to see that there were several kids jumping into the river from the bridge (there are 47 meters high), as entertainment, and forming a spectacle that everyone was watching. Next to Luis I bridge are the remains of the two stone obelisks that were part of the bridge that had previously Pensil and was replaced by Luis I. It was a suspension bridge, built in 1843 to a design by Mellet and Bigot.

The bridge in the sunset

Porto east associé avec Douro, the sublime here fleuve snake entre les collines verdoyantes du Portugal, during which poussent les Vignes is célèbres dans le monde entier pour leur vin.

The don luis i bridge and its surroun...

The Don Luis I Bridge and its surroundings are one of the most beautiful and romantic places in Portugal, just take a walk at sunset along the upper walkway of the bridge in order to check the beauty of the views it offers. The charm and majesty that gives us make it one of my most beloved places and strikes me every time I visit. Of the many bridges of Porto is the best known and impressive city. Built on the banks of the Douro River connects the town with the spring Vilanova de Gaia. Today is part of the Historic Centre of Oporto World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It opened on October 31, 1886 and was designed by engineer Teofilo Seyrig, a student of Gustav Eiffel.

A masterpiece

Unfortunately the weather misfortune was primed with us this day. But I think it despite having to go with the umbrella in one hand and camera in the other, I managed to see this bridge in a different light to which we are accustomed. Almost always this bridge is often associated with the city of Oporto, and yet now I have had the opportunity to see it from this and desdee Vila Nova de Gaia, I prefer the second option to admire more in depth. Luis I Bridge opened in 1886, was built on the remains of one that existed in the same place called Ponte Pensil. The project itself is due to Théodophile Belgian engineer who was a disciple of Seyring Gustave Eiffel, so its iron frame of 3,000 tons deeply reminds the Eiffel Tower. The upper floor length through which the tram is 392 meters and the bottom of the dedicated to vehicles is 174 meters.

Bridge full of life

We found it curious that Porto were so well known for its bridges without being neither particularly pretty. The most famous is that of Luis I, which besides being so important because it allows the passage of cars, pedestrians and trains, has a lot of life: kids jumping into the river, people sitting at rest, constantly passing tourists ...

The Don Luis I bridge was built in 1886 by a disciple of Eiffel, Theophile Seyrig. With two floors and an impressive iron arch part of port communicates with neighboring Vilanova de Gaia, where are the famous wineries of Porto. On the top of the bridge runs the tram, while the lower passing cars and no sidewalks for pedestrians on both floors. From the top floor there are stunning views of the Douro, as well as a beautiful view both sides of the river. At the bottom there is a quiet café with a terrace right on the edge of the river where you can enjoy great views and sunsets.

The Dom Luis I Bridge is a symbol of Porto and connects the city with Vila Nova de Gaia, offering wonderful views of the river Douro. The bridge was designed by Gustave Eiffel and was constructed between 1881 and 1886. The main characteristic is given by the arched bridge built on two floors, the lower one for vehicles but in the upper runs the railroad. Innovative architecture and elegant, the Dom Luis Bridge is constructed entirely of metal. Do not miss a walk over the bridge from the top of the city, a vertiginous view.

A beautiful masterpiece

Opened October 31, 1886 is a truly spectacular work that connects the River Duero from one part of the city 'of Porto. It was built by the engineer Belgian Teophic Seyrig who a few years earlier had carried along with Gustave Eiffell the close vicinity of the bridge of Maria Pia. From the bridge is visible Villa Nova de Gaia famous for vitinivicole companies such as Sandeman and many others. The upper deck on the summit is crossed by pedestrians and the metro line, while the bottom is crossed by car and bus.

Beautiful

After crossing the bridge D.Luis I, the bottom tray, in the direction Porto-Gaia, to visit the cellars of Porto wine, we have this beautiful picture, worthy of the finest screen, and also many, many photos. The cellars of Porto wine by so every signal in Gaia, what happened for a strategy of matter (at the time in Gaia there was the payment of taxes, which already took place in the nearby town) and on issues climatricas, are located at along the riverside promenade and still prximas.A h wine tasting streets, and still many and varied restaurants and bars where the cuisine of the region prevails, and the variety of nectars makes the delight of connoisseurs.

Bonito

In the evening you can experience a wonderful disfrtuar approaching the Bridge of San Luis, both from above and from below you can admire the city with a different key. You can get to this point with a stroll through the Bank to stay at the gates of the funicular. If you want a more panoramic "wide" can climb to the top of the Bridge of San Luis, by using the funicular or accessed through the steep streets of the city and then cross over the river, where the wineries, in Vila Nova de Gaia.

An evening stroll

One of the most famous bridges of the city of Oporto, from the funicular you have a beautiful view of the bridge, but if you have good legs and Porto has not exhausted you with their backs, I recommend taking the stairs that save the unevenness from the Near the banks of the high area and enjoy a privileged place to photograph the famous bridge.

Ponte d. lus i, porto, portugal

H who bother with the climate of Porto. Me at. I love this fog, wet ground, the moisture that flows from the walls. The city has a very special meaning for me. First, the capital of northern Portugal, homeland of my family. Then, because its historical center, whose facades can be seen in the picture, cultural heritage of humanity. I am fascinated by world patrimnios. If the error in the account, already been to 89, spread over four continents. None of them, however, left a deep impression to me as Invicta, as the Portuguese call the monumental city of Porto. I hope to revisit it soon.

Ponte d. luís i, porto, portugal
