Where Giants Once Walked

Excellent

The Torcas de Palancares is one of those places that you do not see written down anywhere, and one of those you like the most after visiting it.

These torcas (sinkholes) were formed by the movements of the karstic land. The earth ceded at some points, thus creating large holes concentrated in a small area.

One can access some of the sinkholes, such as the Novia one, directly by car through the road. For all the other ones, one has to walk through the very well indicated path. You will see many of them on this half an hour to 2 hours long walk.

It is really easy to go down to some of them, like the Escalinata one. Some of them are huge, like the Torcazo or the Torca de Agua. Others are full of trees.

Vast Richness

In the lower Serranía de Cuenca, there is a place totally worth visiting. One of these places one cannot understand why it is hardly known to tourists.

It is a rich natural landscape with a unique peculiarity: the sinkholes. Las Torcas are natural ditches that have been shaped with time in a land that used to be inundated with water. The earth ceded and shaped these huge holes that now form part of nature. There are many of them, and all of them have a name: Novia(girlfriend), Agua (water)...

To get there, there are different options, depending on how much time and mood one has.
