Really Beautiful

The city of Morella is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. It is still fortified and it possesses all the charm of medieval times. By walking in its streets it transports you to another place in earth that doesn’t belong to today, since it respects the old and maintains the new.

A town that draws you in

The old Maestrazgo región, one that extends of into the limit of Castellón and the province of Teruel, is right next to the Els Ports region, which has a strong personality marked by its ancient history

The fortified towns and gothic buildings are of medieval origin; the big houses are renaissance style; the churches are baroque, which were built thanks to the economic peak the town enjoyed from the wool industry.

The town's serence and humble character has been shaped by great historical events. The Carlist Wars were particularly bloody here and tell the tale of the intrepid and violent Tiger of Maestrazgo. The feared general Ramón Cabrera left legends and stories behind that are still told, especially in Morella, where he was the Count.

Pretty

Excellent

It’s a walled village which still holds on to its medieval essence. Arriving from Vinarós on the National 232 highway, I’d suggest the second exit which will take you straight to a parking area.

The village is pedestrian-only and it’s a pleasure to explore the little souvenir shops, have a coffee on a terrace on the street while you watch the people pass, and try a hearty meal in one of the restaurants. If you see a lot of people, make reservations at a restaurant as soon as you arrive then go visit the town.

Breathe Warm Mountain Air
The experience of walking along the streets of the fortified city of Morella, of tasting a typical dish in any of its bars, the walls and the warm mountain air is wonderful.
The fortified city of Morella is a place where you can entertain all of your senses: walking its streets, breathing the fresh air, enjoying the landscape from the castle top. They have excellent festivities and traditions.
