Shines

When the flow of the Zambezi decreases, this part of the falls is the most affected. It becomes a stone gorge that shines like obsidian between jets of falling swan dive water. All of this is the right side looking at the falls from in front.

The smoke that thunders.

To stand beside these great falls is a fantastic experience. Seeing the torrents of water flowing down the the steep cliffs whilst watching the spray almost like smoke rising into the sky. It is something I will never forget

Mosi-oa-tunya (smoke that thunders)

Early in the morning we share a taxi around the market from Livingstone to Victoria Falls. The day dawns clear and sunny but absolutely nothing but take the road which connects the little over 10 kms that separate this small town of cataracts surprising image that we see our face, the formation of tremendous gray clouds and a curtain smoke like a mist, which emerges from the ground, stunned and speechless wonder if that had anything to do with the falls as we approach we confirm that we are right, and we're getting an idea of the dimensions of this wonder of nature. It's late May, just termirar the rainy season and this has been a good year of rainfall, flow Zambezi consuming so the show is awesome. Are 1.7 km wide and 108 meters high and as the "Lonely" in this month could plummet about 10 million liters of water per second, no doubt about data flipantes! and are shared by two countries, Zambia and Zimbabwe. We started our tour from the top, just before falling into the waters tremendous avismo, see the spectacular curtain of water vapor formed, sound shakes. A lovely rainbow make the unforgettable picture. We went down to see the show up close, from the very "knife edge" rented a raincoat and a pair of sandals that soon we serve, because we just totally soaked, so the flow is falling clouds forming many major obstacles so vision we can only see a small part of the falls, the rest we imagine, but the spectacle of water, colors and sound is great. From the bridge linking Zambia with Zimbabwe we see the force with which the Zambezi continues his way, and now with a good perspective we get an idea of the real dimensions of the breathtaking Victoria Falls.

It is a large crack basltica

The Victoria Falls is one of the largest world attractive and certainly the most important in southern Africa. His name "Mosi-os-yours (the Smoke that Thunders), but later were renamed Victoria Falls by the physician and explorer David Livingston in honor of Queen Victoria. Livingston was the first European who discovered and made known to the world. Were declared World Heritage in 1989 has 1,700 meters long x 110 meters wide in the Zimbabwe side and 300 x 110 in the Zambia side. This is a "basaltic crack", not a tectonic fault and this is what makes this unique training in the world. The perimeter is fenced and is accessed through an entrance where the ticket is purchased, the cost is $ 30 USA ,, At the entrance is a shop selling souvenirs and a bar. The route is through roads well marked with its corresponding label. Before embarking on the journey in a small plaza is a statue in honor of David Livingston. The roads leading to different viewpoints. Various activities, scenic flights by helicopter or microlight aircraft, rafting, bungee jumping and canoeing safaris are offered. Walking with lions and elephant ride. Within a reservation. As for rafting is said to be one of the most dangerous in the world. The Bungee (punting) is made from the iron bridge, down vacuum of 111 meters, vertigo! The Iron Bridge crosses the Zambezi River and is the border with Zambia.' http://www.rodamons.net'

Two weeks as a volunteer for world heritage in mosi-oa tunya (victoria falls !!)

If you have time to spend several days in Mosi-oa-Tunya Dedicate at least one integer to the falls (hopefully can see some clueless elephant at the top of the falls, with spectacular sunsets), down to the Boiling Pot (what it costs is top ...) and also visit the Park Mosi-oa-Tunya, where, on a little tour, you can see elephants, zebras, giraffes and rhinos. If you're daring I advise you not to go bungee jumping without (bungee jumping) to 111m on the Zambezi, in the 110 years that bridge the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. And if you have more days of salt bounded and enjoy small towns, baobabs, elephants areas ...

They are located along the Zambezi River, where they also represent the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. In practice are formed when the river meets a cliff and a deep throat precipitanto so for over a hundred meters. Have an edge over a kilometer and a half and an average height of over 120 meters. All this is possible to view it on the opposite side, exactly in front of the cliff, almost surrounded by a mist of water droplets determined from the fall in the same precipice of the great mass of water. This scene is now known as "the smoke that thunders". Spectacular!

Spettacolare!!!

Your name victoria falls or mosi-oa-t...

Your name Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya, the smoke that thunders, it can respond better to the reality, awesome, I personally found to be more attractive from the part of Zimbabwe, both on foot and from the air, in my I opted for the lightweight case. I could not see the moon rainbow, visible only with a full moon, but with the two of sun I am satisfied. For daring bungee jumping all an adrenaline rush.

One of the most impressive places in the world

Go to Victoria Falls was our dream. They say they are the falls with more flow in the world and seeing them was impressive. You can see from Zambia or Zimbabwe but definitely from the latter where they have the best views. Estn within the Victoria Falls National Park and debers pay admission to tour the various trails from which you have all the visions of water each. Inside the park, of course, also it has its tribute Livingston, a true wonder.

Devil's pool

If you travel to the falls in the period of low flow, one of the activities offered is to swim in the Devil's Pool (Pool Devil) It is in the same limit where just the river, and start the waterfall, but due to a rock formation that holds you is "safe" bathe there. It is an amazing experience! To get to the pool you have to cross the river swimming, fighting the strong currents that push you over the edge. Once you get to the point, you can choose to laze at once (for the brave) or glide gently. Once the pool is just enjoy the experience, sights, and the incredible privilege of being able to swim to 1cm of water fall. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life!

Devil's pool

Victoria falls and zambezi river

After a tour of South Africa we finished our trip to Zimbabwe. We chose this goal to be able to navigate the Zambezi River and to see Victoria Falls. The Zambezi River is a magical atmosphere especially for the colors that assumes at sunset. While browsing the boat you can see on the banks of giraffes and elephants that drink. We also saw many hippos dozing in the water. What about the Victoria Falls! A wonderful show despite the month of September, when we were, there was no maximum amount.

Cascate vittoria e fiume zambesi

The victoria falls are one of the thr...

The Victoria Falls are one of the three largest in the world. Really impressive to see such a long leap from the other end as millions of gallons of water will flow through the stones. It is ironic that water is the biggest problem in South Africa having all this water. Furthermore ..... I was a little disappointed but it is a unique thing. Greetings

Absolutely speechless! Uff, the first wish: jump into the water!! The noise, the smell, the humidity .... the desire to stand .... It is a great wonder and really dumb while I was terrified.

One of my best experiences, see this ...

One of my best experiences, see this natural wonder from a helicopter. Victoria Falls are a waterfall the Zambezi River on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. They were discovered by David Livingstone, Scottish missionary and explorer, visited the falls in 1855 and named it Queen Victoria, although they are locally known as "Mosi-oa-Tunya" "The smoke that thunders" The falls are approximately one 7 km wide and 108 m high. An extraordinary spectacle considered rare due to the narrow gap in which the water falls. They are one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.
