Musée d'Art et d'Histoire

5 reviews of Musée d'Art et d'Histoire

Works by Renoir, Monet, Sisley

This museum offers an overview of the history of civilization from prehistoric times to the middle of the XX century. Prehistory, Rome, Egypt, Mesopotamia are some of the civilizations represented here. However, the specialty are the paintings, such as the famous altarpiece by Konrad Witz (1444), which is the first accurate representation of a landscape in European painting. It also has works by Renoir, Monet, Sisley.

Wonderful place

Just 200 meters from the old town, and is a warm and wonderful place full of history. In front of the museum is a small park overlooking the water jet in Geneva. This museum is worth visiting for its collections and its permanent exhibition.
