National Museum of Catholic Art and History

1 review of National Museum of Catholic Art and History

Catholic art and culture

The National Museum of Catholic Art and History, located in the eastern district of Manhattan (Harlem), is a museum that focuses on the many facets of Catholic art. It was founded in 1995 by Christina Cox. The museum has received support from the Archdiocese of New York, although there is no connection between the two. Following the controversy concerning the status of the museum as a charity and its collection of funds, the diocese sought without success to remove the word Catholic in the name of the museum.
