We couldn't believe it

We left Mykonos on one an inter-island ferry headed toward Santorini. When we arrived, we couldn't believe it. There were massive cliffs above the sea lined with small white villages along the crests. Once we got to the top, with the help of a trusty donkey and tired from the voyage, we started exploring the small streets and discovering the amazing views of the sunset over this ancient volcano which gave birth to these islands.

Some say that the volcano is how Atlantis disappeared. I say it's one of the most amazing sunsets I've ever seen.

Serenity and relaxation

Try to spend at least a full day on Santorini, especially in Oia and Thira...that's where you truly appreciate not only the beauty of the landscape but of the lifestyle as well. It's a shame that it's getting more and more touristy, but at least there aren't any mega-resorts or noticeable touristy infrastructure. Getting lost among the streets of Oia with only the scenic blue domes to guide you is a totally unforgettable experience. Here's a photo I shot...it looks like something off of a postcard. The place is so beautiful that you don't even need to be a great photographer!

Oia's enchantment

A striking contrast of churches and houses cheek-to-cheek amidst an arid otherworldly setting. Oia enchants you, holding you captive forever with her charms.

A really lovely villa.

As is gorgeous even it has some majestic villa consists of corners that leave you with this charming diversity. Just 12 km from Fira, houses blend into the volcanic soil, whitewashed clay pots filled with flowers by their descendants stairs. Despite being very busy in the horde of tourists who all give us appointment. Oia or "Pano Meria" to the northernmost tip of the island, its main pedestrian street connects from the cliff with many branches. A people perhaps quieter than Fira, although also its streets are full of nice boutiques, jewelers and charming hotel villas. Its central square "Nikolaou Nomikou" next to the church, where his image of a perfect whiteness with a beautiful blue domes merge with the blue sky and contrasts with the tones of the sea. Around the main street are given appointment art galleries, Greek artisans and countless souvenir shops. That blend with the Mediterranean atmosphere of the quiet village of Oia, with views from atop the cliff magnificent and picturesque way to Ammoudi port. A desired and chosen to see and enjoy the sunset, hundreds of people gather here, in the gazebo place. Looking to capture moments of incredible sunset, spectacular post one of the most photographed in the world A place that invites you to relax!

The streets of oia are beautiful to g...

The streets of Oia are beautiful to get lost ... For me too many people, yes. We tried to go several times at different times, especially than in the sun which is when the town is full. The best was a day that was not too good, after eating. The town is tiny, intricate, charming, bewitching. And take a "frappe" in a terrace overlooking the volcano is priceless. The streets are full of shops, houses small hyper luxury, others not so much, of colorful houses with courtyards full of flowers and plants (I put a picture of a house plant, but the flowers that looked closer you saw that were pimientitos bright red dwarfs), dog lying in the sun staring at the sea, waiting to drop something, cats that look real painting and antique connoisseurs and especially smells, gyros and Tues (I put a picture of a house plant, but the flowers seemed closer pimientitos saw were bright red dwarfs). Sometimes you're going andadndo and above the roof of a house. That's incredible. Now the people in there, I guess poquita privacy. If you are going to try to go where the people are not too crowded, you will not regret.

White and blue

The island of Santorini, the jewel of the islands called Cycladas, crescent shaped and this town Oia, is located north, at the peak of the moon, which was once a fishing village and now sailors place of wealthy people and tourists must visit. Watch the order of the immaculately white houses, each with its little chapel domed Orthodox Christian indigo, descending along the steep cliff, is definitely a picture to remember. Good place for souvenir shopping, jewelry as almost all the Greek islands, wine ... Or enjoy the chill out of the flirty terraces. I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Blanco y azul

Incredible sunset

Oia is a beautiful old city on the island of Santorini, in the Cyclades, Greece. Along the cliff of Oia, gradually the houses have been built on the porous volcanic rock that forms the coast of the islands, which we perceive as typical of Greece. The city is famous for its picturesque architecture, unique thanks to its mix of large medieval Venetian houses with small houses scattered in villages and known as "yposkafa". Oia remains one of the most important tourist attractions of the Aegean Sea. The famous Oia sunset, considered by many as one of the most beautiful in the world, makes hundreds of tourists come every day to the fishing piers (the world's oldest operating) to witness this beautiful spectacle. To witness the sunset either you must go early and find a special place, because due to mass tourism that suffers, it is almost impossible to find a place if you arrive just as dusk begins. The small town is a very nice place although you can not enjoy your beautiful streets that are filled with authentic flocks of tourists who flock to their organized trips regardless of anything or anyone. The only thing that matters is not to lose your group.

Fso or hy is a town located on the is...

FSO or HY is a town located on the island of Santorini, which belongs to the Cyclades archipelago, which is about 200 km. In mainland Greece. The island of Santorini is shaped like a crescent and at one end of it is located OIA, which, experts say travelers can appreciate the most beautiful sunsets in the universe .... Generally most tourists stay in Fira or Thira, capital of Santorini and that is at the other end of the island. A OIA is accessible by regular bus from different parts of the island by car or rent one if. You will be amazed by the wonder of its terraces, clean and tidy .... With its white buildings, blue roofs characteristic and its many churches. From OIA can see the crater, whose explosion emerged this archipelago. As in Fira also find multiple businesses of all types and all price .... Dress, incredible jewelry, hats, souvenirs of all kinds ... Anything. It is a ride you will not regret it, I assure you.

Oia in santorini - heaven greek

Once you arrive at the port of the island of Thira Santorini you have to take the cable car that takes you up from that point take a public transport and in 10 minutes you are at Oia, fantastic village perched on a crust of volcanic rock. The houses are all white doors and shutters have the characteristic color in pastel many of which are blue in color .... It's all a magical set of lights and colors and in the evening you can also witness a fabulous sunset. Good Voyage

Oia a santorini - paradiso greco

Buon Viaggio

One of the prettiest towns i visited ...

One of the prettiest towns I visited the Greek islands was Oia. Located at 11km north of Fira, is one of the most famous sites on the island of Santorini. We got there at about quads we rented, for about 10 € per head the could have until 6 o'clock in the afternoon. With them we visited most of the island up to this beautiful village. It is located as if on a cliff where you can see spectacular views of the volcano and Palia and Nea Kameni Island Thirassia. The town is divided into cliff below, so if you want to see it well you will have to do some exercise, because not only is lower but then again you have to climb its steep and narrow streets. The truth is something worth seeing, their houses are all white and wooden windows in bright colors typical of this part of the Mediterranean. With curvilinear forms, no more than two floors. They seem perfectly integrated into the stone. This picture has made many artists have established their residences there. So there are numerous art galleries and shops. It really is a nice place.

Oia is the crown jewel of Santorini is the most sought after location on the island especially in the late afternoon. And why? It has one of the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen. The whole city is dazzling white houses with blue roof with turquoise sea always in the background. It is a place people want to go back without a doubt.

What a beauty this small greek villag...

What a beauty this small Greek village! Overlooking the Aegean Sea, at the northern tip of Santorini, Oia Village is a sumptuous, unfortunately mobbed by tourists. Fortunately, you can go out shopping streets and get lost in the dédalles quaint and quiet streets, away from the hustle and bustle. The chapels are everywhere, and the view overlooking the sea gives an impression of scenery mailing to all street corners map. Not to be missed during a visit by Santorini.

The

Oia is the most characteristic town of the island of Santorini, Cyclades Islands, Greece, in the Aegean Sea. We had half an hour to walk around those streets flooded with light. Soon it was time, but very intense. Tremendous contrasts with the slope of the afternoon sun, but we could appreciate the beauty of those snow-white house, which only served to highlight the blue domes of many Orthodox churches that dotted the side of the "island bicolor". Bicolor strata by a huge volcanic eruption deposited centuries ago. Magmatic black and white based on high, by the ashes thrown over thirty kilometers which is then deposited.
