Otternes farm

It's like something froma fairy tale, The twenty or so houses that are part of the Farm Otternes offer an opportunity to discover for yourself what life probably was like for the people of the fjords long before tourism came, and the arrival of cruise ships changed everything. They were not very favorable conditions it seems. The village lies on top of one of the arms of the Sognefjord, in a privileged position to admire it, but the original inhabitants were probably more interested in the marine traffic controlled by the fjord (pirates, mostly). Otternes is accessed by road from the fabulous towns of Flam and Aurland. You must look for a little detour and climb the marked forest path up from there. In my opinion, it is well worth making this little detour; the Otterne houses are beautifully preserved, some give the feeling that the people have gone out for a walk and they are about to come back through the door at any moment. This small village was inhabited from the eighteenth century until 1996, and it has been preserved thanks to the contributions of the visitors (Entrance 50 NOK per adult).
