Ottoman Houses of Amasya

1 review of Ottoman Houses of Amasya

Amasya, a city of nice Ottoman houses

Amasya is one of the most gorgeous cities in Turkey. It is between mountains and is traversed by the river Yesilirmak. It is separated from the rest of Anatolia by a valley. It was once the center of Pontic kingdom and you can see 18 lovely Pontic tombs that were excavated. Amasya also has many mosques worth seeing, such as Spend Beyazit Camii, the Mehmet Pasa Camii Camii or Gümüslü, which is the oldest Ottoman mosque in the city. But what makes this city special and gives you an unusual beauty are the Ottoman houses which are timber-framed along the north bank of the river. They are a amazing houses hanging by the river and they are held together by wooden supports.
