Özkonak Underground City

This place is beautiful. It is an underground city of Kaymakli or Ozkonak. It was built by the Christian communities to protect themselves from Arab attacks. You can only visit four levels below ground but there seems to be more. A word of advice to those with claustrophobia, it's very narrow and quite dark. At some points throughout the tour you have to go through some tunnels almost squatting. That aside, it's absolutely worth it.

Özkonak is an abandoned city in Cappadocia in Central Anatolia, Turkey, under ground level. It was found in the year 1972 and has not been fully explored. It has 9 levels with 14 rooms that could be locked from the inside with stones.
