Toune
A great monument
Well-known in Lille, this is the highest triumphal arch in France. It is located opposite the Town Hall and its large bell tower. It is a great monument, dating back to 1692, when it was built to honour the glory of Louis XIV. It consists of a drawbridge, in addition to two large flights of stairs guarded by stone lions. There are also statues of famous people, like Neptune and Hercules. A real delight to discover.
