Walk along the River Forth (Raploch)

2 reviews of Walk along the River Forth (Raploch)

A nature walk with history

Excellent

When you cross the famous Stirling Bridge (where Wallace beat the English) from north to south (towards the castle from the Wallace Monument), turn right and go towards the river you will find the entrance to a kind of park which is the start of this recently-established walking route through the historic neighborhood of Raploch (currently being renewed).

The walk is about 4km and reaches the Bridge of Allan following the course of the river Forth, the largest of the Scottish rivers. As you walk, you can appreciate that the pavement on which you stand has been divided into bands with different dates, such as 1297, the year of the Battle of Stirling Bridge (think "Braveheart") or 1437 when Raploch was first mentioned as an area of Stirling.
