1 review of Piazza Sella

More than a square

More than a square it's the meeting place of the city as it's located on routes linking Carbonia and Cagliari. It exits to the northwest via the old Eleanor road, at the beginning of which are remains of medieval walls. In the end, at the widening of the Fenza gate the Ghibellina road climbs the southern slope of Mount Altai to the ruined Salvaterra castle. In the square there's a monument to Quintino Sella, the driver of the Sardinian mining industry in the nineteenth century and there are always groups of elders sitting on benches watching the activity.
