Off the tourist trail

Although not far from usual tourist areas (Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter, Jardin des Plantes), this is a small square boxed in my high buildings which makes it invisible to most outsiders. It’s a square complete with fenced gardens, shady trees, bubbling fountains, and sandy walkways.

It's a place where many Parisians spend their weekend afternoons. In fact, it's best to avoid coming in the afternoons in summer if you're looking for peace and quiet and to have more than 2 square meters to yourself. The garden is surrounded by some of the most expensive homes in the area. Having an apartment overlooking the square is a luxury very few can permit. Much of the area's charm, apart from the stunning architecture, comes from the fact that many important historical figures resided there. Victor Hugo’s house, for example, is on the corner. Today, it’s a museum but the interior has been preserved in the same state as when the author was alive.

Perfectly symmetrical

Located in the heart of the Marais district, is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Its uniqueness is in its perfect symmetry, 9 houses on each side, totaling 36. Throughout its 400-year history it has witnessed many historical events such as tournaments for the betrothal celebration of King Louis XIII to Anne of Austria, and famous characters like Victor Hugo have been housed here. An English garden is located in the center of the square, where there are multiple fountains, there was no sun on the day we visited despite it being August, but you know in Paris one day if it rains and perhaps another.

One of the prettiest places on Earth

Without fear of exaggerating, I can say that this is one of the prettiest places on Earth,at least from what I’ve seen. The Place des Vosges is the oldest square in Paris (built in 1612) and its location in the heart of Le Marais has made it a symbol of the neighborhood’s recent boom.

The square is synonymous with bookish students relaxing on the grass, young people playing guitar, children playing, jazz musicians playing on the street, and sunshine. It’s surrounded by aristocratic buildings with red brick facades and slate roofs. It’s a place to kick off your shoes, sprawl out on the

beautiful gardens, cafes and art galleries

La Place des Vosges is one of the most beautiful parks I've seen in Europe. It's in the Les Marais de Paris neighbourhood, very close to La Bastille.

The gardens are perfectly manicured, with colorful fountains. It's surrounded by several cafes and exquisite art galleries where hours fly by without you realising it.

If you get lost in Paris, Place des Vosges is a great place to find yourself :)
