Pompeii Ruins

The Etruscans and the Greeks had a major role in the creation of the city of Pompeii, in the region of Campania, Italy. It is situated at the foot of the volcano Vesuvius. Soon the city boasted an Hellenistic ambiance and the decorative style of Pompeii was something completely new and different. Big houses were built and, with the construction of the Serino aqueduct, running water was introduced to the region.... Therefore multiple sources were installed not only inside the house but also in the streets, which represented a real breakthrough for that time. The sources of the most sumptuous private homes were decorated with colorful mosaics and the streets were made of stone.
